Ella es la primera sonrisa que conoces al llegar a las oficinas centrales de GENCO. Es posiblemente quién contesta tu llamada y te conecta con quien necesitas hablar. Es la primera persona que piensas en escribirle cuando necesitas saber algo. En muchas ocasiones es la persona que conecta lo que sería la red de GENCO, ya que muy posiblemente ella se ha comunicado en algún momento con todos y cada uno de los empleados de la compañía. Jennifer Acevedo Lorenzo, es la Asistente Administrativo de GENCO. Desde nuestras oficinas centrales en Isabela, Puerto Rico – para el mundo.

Sus comienzos

Jennifer comenzó en GENCO en febrero del 2018. “Yo llegué porque estaba trabajando en otra compañía y como era part-time, me disminuían las horas y cada vez que bajaban las horas, me dedicaba a buscar empleo. Porque pues, necesitaba una mejor economía.”  Aunque Jennifer es una parte bien importante de nuestro equipo, confiesa que al conocer más a fondo de lo que se trataba la compañía, estuvo a punto de declinar la entrevista. “Es curioso porque yo dudé en venir a la entrevista. La que me llamó fue Yessie. Cuando yo hice el search ese mismo día de lo que trataba GENCO, yo decía – como vi que era de construcción – ¿pero qué yo voy a hacer en una compañía de construcción? Por que nunca había tenido la experiencia.” A fin de cuentas, Jennifer se atrevió a llegar a la entrevista. Entendió que no tenía nada que perder. Indica que se sintió cómoda y ese mismo día llegó su oferta. “Yo llevaba pidiéndole a Dios un trabajo…” cuenta Jennifer con nostalgia –  “… y quería trabajar en un ambiente de trabajo que fuera bueno… desde ese día ellos me aceptaron aquí en la familia de GENCO.”

Un día normal para Jennifer en GENCO.

Debido a la naturaleza de su trabajo, a diario Jennifer interactúa con todos los públicos de GENCO. Empleados, clientes, vendedores, subcontratistas, personal de oficinas de gobierno, ¡de todo! “Yo quería la posición. Esto es lo que a mi me gusta, lo que a mi me llena… Yo hago muchas cosas. A mi me llaman… pero también asisto a diferentes departamentos… Estoy todo el tiempo ayudando a todo el mundo. Y ese es mi estilo de trabajo. Y me gusta porque estoy ahí para ayudar a todos. Hago diferentes cosas, no me quedo haciendo lo mismo.” En su semana, Jennifer tiene varias tareas recurrentes como contestar teléfono, buscar correspondencia, trabajar y archivar documentos sensitivos, visitar oficinas de gobierno, publicar memos y notificaciones para toda la compañía, asistir con el manejo del almacén y las entregas de mercancía del departamento de compras – ¡y mucho más! “Todos los días uno va aprendiendo a ser mejor persona, a ser más fuerte. Todavía me falta… pero he ido creciendo a saber como manejar algunas situaciones y he aprendido a crecer más como persona.”- dice sobre su oportunidad en GENCO. “En lo personal, me gusta dar lo mejor de mi y hacer las cosas correctamente, porque esa es quien yo soy. Y porque eso está inculcado en lo que me enseñaron mis padres… yo me siento orgullosa de mi misma y de lo que he logrado hasta el día de hoy. Y de lo que sé que voy a lograr en el futuro.” Jennifer tiene claro su potencial y recalca las ganas de aprender que tiene. Ella está feliz y sabe que quiere más. 

En los años que lleva Jennifer en la compañía, dice tener mucha gente del equipo que ha tenido un impacto en su vida profesional. Dice con nostalgia que aprecia la atención que le dan sus supervisores y los admira mucho, pero también destaca a uno de sus compañeros que recientemente fue promovido y al que ya no ve tanto como antes. “¡David para mi ha sido una persona clave aquí!”, dice de David Valentín, quien fuera promovido de la Oficina de Contabilidad a la nueva división de Construcción Comercial. “Él me ha ayudado, me da consejos… Él siempre estaba por ahí, y hablábamos.” Jennifer también menciona a Miguel y Maricarmen como personas que han sido importantes en su desarrollo profesional. “¡Me dan luz!” – dice emocionada sobre sus compañeros.

“GENCO es una compañía muy buena. Aquí hay muchas personas dispuestas a entregarlo todo y el trabajo que le vamos a hacer va a ser un trabajo de calidad. Porque lo que hacemos lo hacemos de corazón…queremos dar un servicio excelente. Somos una compañía integra con honor y orgullo.”

Jennifer entiende que la cultura de GENCO es “mantener un ambiente en el que nos podamos tratar como familia… ellos velan por sus empleados. Para ellos es muy importante sus empleados.”

¿Quieres ser parte de GENCO? Jennifer te dice – “¡no te vas a arrepentir! Algo que nunca voy a olvidar es el trato que nos dan. Eso para mi ha sido algo muy bueno. Eso tu no lo vez… yo nunca lo había visto en ningún empleo. Yo me siento muy contenta en ese sentido con GENCO.”

She is the first smile you’ll see when you arrive at GENCO headquarters. She is possibly the one who answers your call and connects you with who you need to talk to. She is the first person you think of writing to when you need to know something. On many occasions, she is the person who connects what would be the GENCO network, since quite possibly she has communicated at some point with each and every one of the company’s employees. Jennifer Acevedo Lorenzo is GENCO’s Administrative Assistant. From our headquarters in Isabela, Puerto Rico – to the world!

Her beginnings

Jennifer started at GENCO in February 2018. “I was working at another company and since it was part-time, my hours would sometimes decrease and every time that happened, I would dedicate myself to looking for a job. Because, well, I needed a better economy. ” Although Jennifer is a very important part of our team, she confesses that after learning more about what the company was about, she almost decline the interview. “It’s funny because I hesitated to come to the interview. The one who called me was Yessie. When I did the research, that same day, and learned what GENCO was about, I said – as I saw that it was construction – but what am I going to do in a construction company? Because I had never had that experience. ” After all, Jennifer dared to come to the interview. She understood that she had nothing to lose. She indicates that she felt comfortable and that same day she got an offer. “I had been asking God for a job …” says Jennifer thoughtfully – “… and I wanted to work in a work environment that was good … from that day on they accepted me here in the GENCO family.”

A normal day for Jennifer at GENCO.

Due to the nature of her work, Jennifer interacts with all GENCO audiences on a daily basis. Employees, customers, vendors, subcontractors, government office personnel, everything! “I wanted the position. This is what I like, what fulfills me … I do many things. They call me … but I also assist different departments … I am helping everyone all the time. And that’s my style of work. And I like it because I am there to help everyone. I do different things, I don’t keep doing the same thing. ” During her week, Jennifer has several recurring tasks such as answering the phone, looking for correspondence, working and filing sensitive documents, visiting government offices, posting company-wide memos and notifications, and assisting with warehouse management and delivery of the Procurement Department – and much more! “Every day you learn to be a better person, to be stronger. I still need improvements … but I have been growing and know how to handle some situations and I have grown as a person. ”-She says about her opportunity in GENCO. “Personally, I like to do my best and do things correctly, because that is who I am. And because that is instilled in what my parents taught me… I am proud of myself and of what I have achieved to this day. And what I know I’m going to achieve in the future. ” Jennifer is clear about her potential and she emphasizes the desire to learn that she has. She is happy and she knows that she wants more.

In Jennifer’s years with the company, she says she has many people on the team who have had an impact on her professional life. She gets nostalgic while saying that she appreciates the attention her supervisors give her and she admires them a lot, but she also highlights one of her peers who was recently promoted and whom she no longer sees as much as before. “David for me has been a key person here!” She says of David Valentin, who was promoted from the Accounting Office to the new Commercial Construction division. “He has helped me, he gives me advice … He was always around, and we talked.” Jennifer also mentions Miguel and Maricarmen as people who have been important in her professional development. “They give me light!” – She says excited about her coworkers.
